Here is a new recording of The Water is Wide. It’s all acoustic except for an electric bass. I will probably get my buddy Carl over to record a new bass part. I’m sure he will improve it, but for now my bass part will have to do.

The main guitar track is my Collings OM3.
Bass is a Modulus VJ, direct.
Lead guitar on the left is a 1958 Martin 00-18
Slide guitar on the right is the same old Martin 00-18
I did two vocal tracks, melody and harmony.

I really like the tone I got on the slide. I laid it in my lap and played it with the steel I use for my lapsteel. I close miced the top by the treble side of the bridge. Real close, just a couple of inches. I think it’s a neat sound that reminds me of a resonator.

I used an AKG C414 mic for all the recording, guitars and vocals.

I made large and small mp3 file this time to be nice to those with slower bandwidth.
