This is an arrangement I put together last year, but never recorded. Thought it was about time.

It features my '34 Gibson L-1.

WAYFARING STRANGER

Very nice and excellent sound. Pacing and timing choices right on.

Lovely, even without a hat; and I doubt anyone would have noticed the crease had you not pointed it out. A favor, sire: a tuning and key reference for those of us actively stealing from others. that would be me. finally, those guitars ain't for decor, son; you know what to do with 'em, and not just a little. best tom

Mike -

You've inspired me to take out my C10 and go to work. Stunningly clean and simple rendition. Thanks.

Great guitar sound and playing -- and a beautiful tune, of course -- reminds me of a lonely gunslinger on a horse slowly going through the sagebrush and cactus under a hot midday sun -- sort of like, well, a wayfaring stranger . . .

Tom, just drop that low E string down to a D and you're ready to roll. It's a simple arrangement (those being the only kind I can write / play) but one of my favorite tunes of all time.

Thanks for all the kind words, folks. The torrent of posts will be slowing to a trickle soon as I'm about out of material ... Smile

Wow! Very nice Mike! It may be a simple arrangement but it's very well played and the tone of that L-1 with nickel strings is... wow.

Very nice Mike. Sorry for always posing some unrelated background question in response to your videos... Roll Eyes ...but how about a video of the L-4, eh? Is it still for sale?

Yeah, the L-4 is still for sale.

I'll probably send it back to Kim in a week or so if nobody comes through.

I'm not real sure what I could record with it, though. Any suggestions? I don't really play "that type" of music very much. Maybe one of the old gospel fingerstyle arrangements I've worked up would be OK but I usually think of the L-4 as more of a play-me-with-a-pick type of thing.

Thoughts?
