I've only been around this forum for a short time, but the recurring theme seems to be woods and tone. So why not a sampler? National does it and there is that great website where a huge number of pickups are compared so we have a model.
Wouldn't it be cool to have samples of the same models with the same player, mic and strings the only variable being woods? Seems like a lot of folks could benefit if there could be a way to put this together. Just a thought.

Seems like it could save the good folks at Collings a lot of phone calls as well. Might be something they could host? Any dealers with a great inventory interested?

I know whenever I want to hear a Collings played I listen to Al Petteways clips at dreamguitars.com. For those who don't know, these can be found on Dream Guitars website under the for sale and guitars sold archives under Collings.
Also as a side note, the Podium is starting to post some sound clips. They may be a good candidate for this project. They also have the most killer stock.
I have more than enough server storage for MP3s. Anyone can send their recordings to me and I can include them in the MP3 page, which was intended to be a smple archive... but not very successful.
