You've got that right, jaco. I worked on an 800 acre rich guy's ranch (2 miles of Snake River frontage), but the real deal was eight spring creeks with cutthroat trout so big they looked fictional. being on private land, I was usually the only one their, or me and my sons. Heaven, or within hailing distance. Truly magical. Sonoma's a nice place, Lord knows, but it ain't the Rockies and never will be. Now, I gotta go play "Sweet Wyoming Home". Bill Staines. I may have to go stiffer than iced tea if this keeps up. tom

2 great days in my life:
The day I bought my deckboat and the day I sold it.

Yes, I am a fisherman. Strange that the snakehead is mentioned because I travel to East Asia every year to fish specifically for them, the channa marulius variety. Never fished for a more "sporting" fish anywhere, salt or fresh, nor have eaten one as tasty. Too bad they've got a bum rap. I make my own lures.

Right now, in Dallas, I fish for the alligator gar with rod and reel. Caught one last year that was 7ft5in, 218lbs. I'll attempt to post pictures per Randy Bauer. Hope it works. First one is the gar, then a 4kg snakehead, then a 43lb Masheer, a ridiculously strong fighter.

Kevdog, very nice boat. Furono on top? Two friends and myself bought a 37' Bertram Convertible with a tower etc in NY and shipped it to the last unspoiled spot on earth: the Andaman Islands, with the intention for fishing for Marlin, GT, grouper, tuna, wahoo, etc, etc. That place is a real aquarium. Of course, everything that could go wrong with the boat did. And not a mechanic within 2000 miles. Anyway, that's another story.

Randy, yes I have: 198lbs. Not as much of a fight as you'd think. Ugly as sin too. A friend who I fish with from England landed a 300lb arapaima in Thailand recently. Good place for snakehead (channa micropeltes though)also.

Wow CC those are some big old fish. I lived in Alaska and go back from time to time to kill a heap of Salmon.I have a couple gigs I can get up in SE AK and can go play music three nights and fish for a couple of days. Im no pro and you dont have to be up there. Herring on the end of a hook and you are hooking into silver and king salmon all day from the bank. Im in Oregon now and we have some good Salmon fishing still, but the fish dont taste like they do in Alaska.
