After an exhaustive search, I finally landed my dream job.
I've been teaching high school for the past 11 years.
I pushed through a Masters and Educational Specialist degrees while teaching.
Last year I landed an interview at my #1 school district of choice.
Got a call about a week later telling me I was their second choice and did not get the job.
Felt like going to the Superbowl and losing.
This year, another position come open in the same district. I had another offer from a district that
I thought might be a good "foot in the door" job, but wasn't where I wanted to be.
So today I went in for an interview and was called back later in the afternoon and offered the job by the Superintendent.
I'm now an assistant principal. Had to share the good news with the forum.

Best of luck to anyone out there looking. Stay persistent and it WILL happen.

That is really great news. There can be nothing better than doing what you love to do and getting paid for it.

God Bless you in your new job!

You go, boy! Since my father was a college professor and my sainted bride was an elementary school teacher (and a genius at it), I have a deep bias in favor of educators. If we put nearly as much effort and resource into schooling as we do building and deploying weapons systems and building prisons, I think our economic problems would go "poof" in fairly short order. Utopia? Please. Better? No doubt. A wide receiver in the NFL makes more in a season than a teacher does in a lifetime. You get what you pay for. end of rant. I love teachers- in fact, one of my band has at its core three teachers who've been singing together for 25 years or so, and they are amazing, both as singers and as human beings. ok ,now that's the real end of the rant. tom

Thanks guys.
The kind words go a long way - more than you know.

I'm a little nervous for the new school year.
I really need to earn my keep.

I wholeheartedly agree. I only wish the majority thought the same way.
