To all of our friends in Texas, leave the coast, board up the windows and be safe.
I have seen the destruction that was Andrew and Hugo. The first hurricane I lived through was Donna back in 1960. Since then I have been through countless storms here in Florida, with three hurricanes hitting us here in just six weeks last year. Please take precautions and be careful. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you. DS 3 Braz 000 1 G MF Mando MT 2 O |

thanks rick. god knows i know you have the experience of them. we're safe enough here in arlington but our company is moving a houston data center here to our hardened facility and we are scrambling right now to set up phone lines, network drops, servers and everything such a move entails. we got a notice today saying all vacations cancelled and i've already emailed allen that unless something mitigates the hurricane hit that i might not make it to the gathering. as to houston, about 3 years ago a tropical storm (alice?) parked over it and left some parts of the city in 8' of water and services were out for weeks and months for some people. i can't imagine (or maybe after nola, i can imagine) what a cat4 or 5 would do to those same areas. anyway, i'm checking my guitar cases for holes to make sure they'll float and looking for large, ziplock bags. /guy |

Be safe Guy, and keep in touch.
If you can't find any super size zip-locks, just use the out door lawn size garbage bags in the heavy dark plasitc. I had those things all over the place last year. Mostly just in case of leaks from above. BTW, you can fit three cases, if standing on end under one of those big puppies. LOL I KNOW ! DS 3 Braz 000 1 G MF Mando MT 2 O |

Does it also affect Collings factory?

Probably not. It looks like the storm is tracking far enough east of Austin to not be a problem for us here. |

most of our 'missing' folks coming here (arlington) from houston showed up today. if you started this morning instead of yesterday the normal 4.5hr trip was only taking 1.5-2x as long as opposed to 4-8x as long.
a bus filled with elderly evacuees caught on fire near dallas this morning and suffered explosions from the oxygen support cannisters killing up to 24 of them. so rita already has blood on her hands. some stores here in the arlington area are already running low on some supplies and shelters are over capacity already. the effects of this storm carve a wide swathe. one thing about monitoring networks and routers is that you usually can tell what is getting hit by when the power or the telephone lines go out. one of my most useful tools in troubleshooting wan problems is a satellite weather display. about an hour ago i lost two univ of tx med clinics on galveston island off my network alert system and just now on the khou live video stream they announced power outages in galveston. the outer wind bands are just now hitting there. |

Gettin close there Guy. Hunker down and stay below decks.
NOLA is already filling with more water, but at least the storm has weakend a bit. Could be a lot worse than it is right now. DS 3 Braz 000 1 G MF Mando MT 2 O |
