Hey, why not? In the late eighties, a tiny town in Montana renamed itself Joe, after the best clutch quarterback that ever drew breath. My Niners have sucked eggs for a decade now, so I gotta live in the past in that regard. So, Collings Colorado it is. Rocky Mountain High, indeed. tom
Now, must provide foil to S'man since he dares to utter that dismal name on this decent forum:
1. Even said qb grudgingly admitted he was trying to throw away "the catch", else he'd a been pancaked by Manster and Too Tall. Lucky. Lucky. Lucky. 2. He looks alarmingly like, cringe, Barry Manilow. So there.
BTW,'Boys make it six SBs in '08, with more to come. Count on it.
Yeah, Joe was sure lucky. How many Super Bowl passing records, and zero interceptions. None. It took the Slow Pokes six decades to get anywhere near six. The Niners, now admittedly the second best team in the Bay Area (after the Cal Bears) won five in, what, 14 years, and the longest streak of seasons with 10 or more victories in NFL history. And Jerry Jones... well, just listen to him if your stomach is strong enough. that's all. The NFL is so full of hotdogs and steroids I don't bother watching. three hour games, fifteen minutes of action. Snoresville. America's Team deserves Terrell Owens. richly. I hope y'all win four in a row. I'm a baseball guy, really, and a traditionalist at that- no DH, no asstroturf. End of rant. Long live Bill Collings and His Amazing Sunbursts! tom

NO. You did not just dis the greatest Quarterback to ever play the game! Joe Montana payed his dues, worked his way up from the very bottom to become, the best of the best. He was smart, patient, accurate, resilient, fiery on the football field and humble off of it. To you he may have looked like someone else, but have you ever seen his wife Jennifer, WOW!

Ah yes, Joe met Jennifer during the filming of their Noxzema commerical, and he made sure that was yet another pass completion
Happy to say I was here (in NoCal) during Joe's entire stint with the 49ers. Football doesn't get any better than that run. Times were just a bit different then, before the salary cap, and Eddie D being the freespender. Add the Genius, and you've got football nirvana.
Unfortunately, those days are a long time gone for us Niner fans.
