I have a '59 J50 Gibson, all original including adjustable bridge and tuners (still in v.good condition),which I would be interested to trade for a quality rosewood dread of similiar value. The Gibby is in very good condition with the exception of a 3" hairline crack running along the pickguard from the bridge and up towards the soundhole. The guitar is loud and deep. Fretboard and bridge are BRW. It will be taken to the local authorized Martin repairperson this week for crack repair (you will be able to contact him for product verification and 3rd party opinions in a week or so at your option). Pics are available. Whats you got?

I had it market valued by Folkway Music at $3,500 based on the same set of pics as offered here. I will pose the question once more to the local luthier when I run it in for repair later this week. I haven't had the chance to bring it in this week as yet as I will be attending a funeral out of town...but perhaps on Friday it will be in his hands. It is in much better condition then the ones I've seen on ebay as of late and better than those at GC, at least the ones that have remained as originals and have not been "refurbished".

Just received a second valuation from one of the largest and, a well respected US based Martin dealer indicating they would sell the J50 in the $3,800 to $4K range. It is truly in rare condition.
