Hey folks,

My 15 year-old did a solo acoustic set to open the Northgate Music Festival (the Toadies headlined) here in College Station last weekend. In the wake of that, he managed to land a semi-permanent (paying, no less!) gig at a trendy little local place. Of course it helps that one of my former students co-manages the place, but hey ... HE came to ME.

Anyway, I'd like to pick up an OM-sized guitar (preferably with electronics, but that's not a dealbreaker) to have around as backup. As most of you know, I've got some great guitars. But none of them have electronics and I've no desire to modify them at all.

So ...

Let me know what you've got. I'd love to be able to pick up a relatively cheap Collings // Bourgeois // H&D OM (preferably mahogany, but try me) or maybe even a Martin OM. On the outside chance that somebody has one of the new Steve Earle signature models, I'd probably be very interested in that. I have a potential deal involving one of those (new) right now, but thought I'd see what was available around here before pursuing it further.

And no, this guitar technically wouldn't be my son's. He has a J-45 that was the result of Kim (at Cotten) keeping her eyes peeled for close to a year for the 'perfect' singer-songwriter guitar. It is killer. But if we had another one around that was gig-ready, I'd be a lot happier.

I would strongly prefer a trade / partial trade for the guitar at this point, as I'm downsizing a bit and also am buying a PA system, etc. I have a couple of electrics I can offer -- a 'burst Collings City Limits Standard (which I probably would price at $2900 or so for an outright sale), a honey-blonde Custom Shop Telecaster (which I probably would price at around $1700 for an outright sale), and probably another electric or two that I can't think of right now.

I'd also be willing to work something with my Brazilian D3 (with cash to me, obviously), so if that turns your crank let me know.

I'll probably post pictures of these at some point but they're all in great shape, play themselves, do your taxes for you, etc.

Anyone who is interested can contact me at mw0705@mac.com

Thanks as always,

A few rather bad and hastily thrown together pics have now been linked. If you'd like others, let me know and I'll actually put some effort into it.

Refer to the previous rather detailed post for exactly what is going on here ... Big Grin

Thanks

Wow Mike, some really sweet guitars you have pictured here! I gave up electrics some years ago, but you have me rethinking that.

By the way, is that a sitka top on that Braz D3?

Great news about your son and best to you both.

Thanks Ernie.

The top on the D3 is Adirondack. It does look Sitka-ish in a couple of spots, but Alex confirmed that it is, in fact, Adirondack.

It's a 1992 ... serial # in the 600s, grade A Braz. Very cool.

Hi, Mike
you may be interested in my gorgeous BearClaw Sitka/EIR Larrivee OM-03r. It's been polished to a semi-gloss so it mikes better than the standard satin finish. Sorry,no electronics, but it's a real gem. Check it out here:

The line is now three deep for an outright purchase of the D3, so I'm going to consider it gone.

The electrics remain.

I'll probably put together a separate post for them at some point next week (with more detailed info), but again ... if anybody has a smaller-bodied acoustic lying around and would like to pick up an awfully good electric, let me know.

Thanks

The "extra" guitar was realized through existing inventory, so this thread is done.

The D3, as mentioned earlier, appears to be gone in an outright sale.

I'll be posting sale info on the Collings electrics in a separate thread.

Thanks for all the interest.
