One down, and only four to go.
One of the 000's will be headed to Florida.

I'm assuming the OM1 Kevin is talking about here is the one I bought from him a couple months ago. I've decided to trade it in on the Huss and Dalton 00-SP Kevin has at his shop.

This is a fantastic Collings OM and the only reason I'm trading is I don't need two Collings OMs and I've already got my OM3 setup with a pickup like I want it.

This OM1 is loud and well balanced. It is also about the lightest Collings I've ever held. If I didn't already have the OM3 I'd be keeping this OM1. However, the Huss and Dalton will give me a little more tonal variety versus my OM3.

This is a great deal on a great Collings OM1. I hope somebody on the forum jumps on this one. I've not yet made it to the shop to complete the trade so I've still got it with me right now. I hope to have it down there within the next few days.

Regards,
Allen

Hi there, I'm interested in the OM1. Could you send me details (photos, description of any wear'n'tear etc) to geoffmills@xtra.co.nz.

Also, what tonal difference is there between the OM1 and the OM1A?

Thanks alot, Geoff

Geoff, I dropped off the OM1 this afternoon and picked up the 00-SP. The OM1 is in as new condition. I bought it from Kevin a couple months ago. It probably has less than 6 to 8 hours total playing time on it. No wear to speak of. No scratches or dings of any kind. As near mint as you'll find in a used guitar. I'm sure Kevin could send you some pics of it.

I can't comment on the tonal differences between the OM1 and an OM1A since I've never owned an OM1A. FWIW, I prefer sitka over adirondack on small body guitars as my experience with the two suggests sitka isn't as stiff and responds a little better to the bare finger picking I do.

This really is a great mahogany OM. I don't think you can go wrong with it.

Regards,
Allen

Folks, Kevin is definitely down one of those killer deal trade ins now. The '96 000 2H is sitting right behind me in not so sunny Florida.

all right! i'll bet that's a good feeling. give us a review when you can. i'm especially interested in a comparison with the d2h. if for some reason i can't come to terms with the 0002h the d2h is the backup plan.

anyway, i'm packing up the taylor trade-in now and will be leaving within the hour. enjoy the new collings!

just wanted to post that the 0002h did indeed follow me home. it was a real intense struggle between it and a new d2h. for those who care i may insert a post into ricks thread about him buying the older sister of the one i got.

anyway, i've been up nearly 36 hours and on the road about 12, so you can see the decision to post a quick one won out over sleep and slobbering over the new toy. i'll let her acclimatize in her case a few hours to get used to the new home, it's been a long, hot drive back through d/fw rush hour traffic.

i can't thank kevin enough. it was a real pleasure meeting him and his wife today. i'll embarrass him with more fulsome praise when i review the 0002h! [g]

Way to go GT. Some how I just knew that one would find a way to sneek into your car for the trip home. And you got to meet Kevin in person.
Well, maybe in two years time I'll have that pleasure with NAMM in Austin.
Get some sleep, and we'll wait for the review.
