One of the first I-35 deluxe guitars, purchased from Mass Street late last year. Premium quilt top (oh, my, gawwwwd), parallelogram inlays in the brazilian board, babied every moment of its life. I promised I'd never swear on this forum, but I'm sorely tempted. This sale is forced by tax liabilties to our friends in Washington, who are spending so very, very wisely. Incredible guitar, unavailable with this trim level and color anywhere on the web, and one the rare occasions they show up they disappear the first day at 6300. I will sell mine for 5500, shipping not included. For a close approximation, check the one at Music Emporium that they won't sell. The top on mine is at least as good, and theirs hasn't the parallelogram inlays. Am I happy about this. You guess. But you gotta cowboy up when the time comes. It's here. You can email me at tommartin22@comast.net, and I suppose my tech savvy wife can load pictures if you're into that. The condition is minty, as Kim at Cotten would say. Son of a beach; that's not swearing.
It's a sad day indeed when you have to sell a treasured instrument in the name of serving an unconstitutional system.
I'm self employed and have also had a bad month - paying the taxman. What did Georgie H. say, "declare those pennies on your eyes?"
Without getting too political, I urge anyone reading this to go watch for free on Google Video Aaron Russo's excellent documentary "America: Freedom to Fascism."
It's time, ladies and gentlemen, to abolish the Federal Reserve (it's not federal and there are no reserves) and abolish the income tax.
Aaron Russo interviews the former head of the IRS and got him ON CAMERA saying that Supreme Court rulings do not apply to the IRS. Anyone who still doubts that we live in a fascist police state needs to watch this film. Implore friends and family to turn sports off for 2 hours and decide if it's time to save our beloved country.
Peace and Love. I hope you find a miracle to allow you to keep your beautiful guitar.
Starfish: Thank you for your sentiments, which I share in their entirety. As a Vietnam era veteran, I, too, am deeply troubled by the turn things are taking. A guitar is the least of it. In many ways, I've led a charmed life; in the past month, our fourth grandchild was born, and our oldest son married a stunning and brilliant young woman. So, my treasured wife and I will get by, as we have for 37 years. but it does rankle me that the funds from the sale of the 35, which is the best electric I've played, are going down a rat hole. But, I will still be in two bands, still playing live music after 42 years at it, and still surrounded by loved ones, who, I am pleased to say, have grown up to share our values. Someone, please put me out of this by making an offer- and a fair one- on the I-35 deluxe. You have no idea just how good this guitar is. Forum mavens: this is the electric equivalent of the Alien OM. Straight up.
Self-serving bump. We need money. One of you needs this guitar. No hype, just the best guitar of its kind ever made, and I've owned those vintage Gibsons on which this was based. BB King, Lary Carlton, at your fingertips. The playings up to you, but the tone is there in buckets. Sorry. Desperate times, desperate measures (I love that 12/8 feel). thanks tom
What a lonely, lonely thread. But more pertinet information. On the Collings website, go to I-35 deluxe. The tobacco sunburst guitar with the parallelogram inlaid fingerboard looks exactly, in every detail, like mine. It might very well be my guitar. Every thing's the same- perfect. Sorry.
Okay, back from the desert for one last try. Pictures available on request. Any offer above 5k considered, shipping excluded. Next week, ebay or consignment. Straight up. That's it.
Well, I think I'm gonna declare this an exercise in futility and send the thing off to sell on consignment, and gone within a week, tops. Thanks for shopping at Tommart! We're an odd breed, guitarists, but I'm glad to be among you.
Yes, still on the market. I've not been trying that hard. Maybe Freudian. And amen to the funk. I will now attempt to launch pictures your way. thanks tom
Pictures are now available, thanks to my lovely and tech savvy wife (like a Collings, beautiful and brilliant, only waaaaaaaaaay, waaaaaay better), but the forum format doesn't like to eat the attachements. But if you'll send me your email address, presuming you're actually interested in a non-pornographic way, I'll be happy to send them to you. Warning: GAS inducing, big time. I may bail and sell my Grosh strat and an OM1A cutaway instead. The lyric to Taxman applies here. thanks, friends. tom
Okay. this is futility. I need to sell some guitars, and I though, erroneously, that the 35 would be jumped on. Nope. Not here, anyway. I may consider offers on: and OM1A varnish, the first ever made; and OM1Ass cutaway; or a C10 deluxe maple/adi. All excellent to near mint, played in, and good enough to have me sell the 14 Collings that preceded them. The varnish would be 43, the OM1Ass cut 35, and the C10 maple/adi custom 45. The tax man cometh.
