I had this up around the first of the year and then
decided to take it down for a while. I am selling off
a few mandolins now to fund another so I would be
reluctant to take any trades on this one. I
purchased this new from Hans several years back. I
believe that it is a 2003 model. It came to me with
the finish crackled a bit and a small ding on the
side which shows in one of the pics. any glare you
see on the back is just that, glare. Adirondack top,
nicely figured maple neck, back and sides.
radiused fretboard. very comfortable neck to play.
nice chop. replacement value is $4800. I'd offer
this one at $2800. All reasonable offers
considered. Cash/Bank Cashiers check only, no
paypal. it has been gone over by my luthier and
has little fretware. the distressing, well, it
happened before i received it at a shop where it
was consigned. gives it a lot of character.

Beautiful mandolin Mary. If I wasn't cash strapped right now... Good luck with the sale.

How does it compare to a Collings MT2?

the sound is a bit more refined. and the neck is more rounded- without the pointed profile. having played both, i'd decided to keep the brentrup instead of doing a trade a while back.

brentrup does a lot more voicing to his top than most of the builders i have tried.

the varnish on this is a bit different also. it's a violin style varnish.

Hi Mary. Can't tell from the pics where the finish is crackled. Could you elaborate a bit more on where the finish flaws are. Thanks.

the crackling is very subtle and you will find that after a few years a lot of varnished instruments get this.

the back is a bit crackled and the face is also. but my luthier says that this can all be buffed out.

As an owner of a similar mandolin I can tell you that this is a superb mandolin at a steal of a price. Someone needs to hop on this one.

amazing, at this price lots of folks interested, but everyone has something they need to sell first. unfortunately, no trade offers for anything of interest yet.
