Here's the guaranteed not to get you lost way to Wimberley from Austin airport. You can see these routes on Yahoo maps if you do it in two sections. One is from Austin airport (AUS is the symbol for the airport) to Dripping Springs, TX. This will actually take you right by the Collings plant though you won't realize it if you don't know it's there. The second leg is Dripping Springs to Wimberley.

Basically, what you do is:

- from the Austin airport take Texas Highway 71 west to the intersection with US Highway 290 west. The intersection of 71 west and IH35 is a little tricky due to highway construction. Be sure you are in the left most lane as you approach IH35. This will take you on the completed part of the freeway that goes under IH35. That is where you want to be. The freeway ends on the southwest side of town near the intersection with 290. This is called the Y in Oak Hill. You will need to bear left at the Y to be on 290 west.

- follow 290 west to Dripping Springs.

- at Dripping Springs take Ranch Road 12 (RR12) to Wimberley.

- go all the way through Wimberley on RR12. There's some construction on it so there might be some short delays.

- the Wimberley Inn is north on FM3237 near the intersection of FM3237 and RR12. The Wimberley Inn is on the right as you are heading north on 3237. If you get to the intersection of Old Kyle Road and 3237 then you have gone too far. If you get to the intersection of RR12 and RR32 then you have missed FM3237 by quite a ways.

Wimberley is a really small town so if you get lost you should be able to find out from someone around there where the Wimberley Inn is. You can also call Kevin at Hill Country Guitars and he can guide you along.
