I will be in Austin next week for business and I'm planning a visit to Collings. I spoke with Steve on the phone and he invited me to stop by. I am looking forward to seeing these guys in action creating the fabulous guitars they make. I'll bring a camera so I can take a few pictures and post them.

I don't live near a Collings dealer (the closest one is 100 miles north in Atlanta) and am interested in finding out the list price for the new model that will be the new version of the Collings CW.

Thanks,

I think they have heard about this forum. Steve seemed to know what I was talking about when I spoke to him. I'm sure they are too busy making great guitars to spend much time on the computer, but I bet someone stops by once in a while.

I just spoke to Brian at Collings to confirm my visit on Friday. Unfortunately Brian will not be in Friday, but he said others would, so some on by. I am looking forward to seeing where the magic takes place.

My schedule changed and I made my visit to Collings Wednesday afternoon. I took the two sales reps I was traveling with. Brian provided a wonderful tour and explanation of the building process. We got to see some fabulous woods. Wow! The quilted maple on one of the mandolins! The wood room upstairs have a great smell. And the smell inside the kiln, heaven for wood lovers! I also got to play one of Lyle Lovett's old guitar that was laying around the shop. I hope he doesn't mind. They also had a fingerboard with his name inlaid in MOP. So it's not on his guitar, just hangin out at the shop.

I took pictures, but I have to get them developed. My dig camera is too large to cary on business trips, sdo I brought a film camera. I get the photos in a day or so, scan them a post with a more complete report. Give me a day or so to catch up from the past 4 or 5 weeks on the road.
