For those of you who regularly attend this No. CA festival (every other year - summer), we're hearing that rooms in the area are getting booked up already even though the event is in August (17-19). Just a heads up to you guys who travel and need lodging.

I love this festival. Great builders and a bunch of workshops and performances - not to mention meeting forumites.

Ace,

I won't be going, but it'd be nice to hear a report from you, complete with pics. I think I've asked this before, but which of those stellar luthiers is building something close to the Collings tone..I'm thinking flatpicking...dreadnaughts...?

You are so demanding! Big Grin

If I go, I would be more than happy to take pics and report on what I saw. Regarding your question about flatpicking dreads, I had to think hard about that. I could be wrong (so former attendees feel free to correct me) but I don't see a lot of dreads there. There are some but a lot of what they show are "other" body styles like OM, 000, 00, etc. The Grand Auditorium size is commonly shown there. Luthiers like Kevin Ryan, Kathy Wingert, Eric Schoenberg, and Jim Olson are there (plus a lot more). It's defintely a GAS-filled environment.

These types of shows are becoming more and more popular. It's the same thing with the montreal guitar show in july. these shows feature the top builders and hotels get booked up very quickly, especially with the montreal guitar show because of the jazz festival which takes place at the same time. you have to plan ahead! good luck....

Healdsburg Guitar Festival has certainly set the standard that other shows follow.
