Wow Norman, that must be some kind of record for the longest time spent at a Billfest. I would of thought that Bill would have just hired you on as a guitar tester eventually! Smile

Happy Holidays.

That is a fantastic picture, Dale! I think you really captured the essence of Norman Draper in that shot. Thanks for sharing.

Allen - I totally agree. If it was a video, one would hear that smoky/gravel voice ala Chris Smither/Springsteen. Come to think of it, Norman looks a little like Chris.

Hey Norm, maybe I'm the lone guy who doesn't know where you've been since the Gathering, but glad to know you're well and wanted to say I'm looking forward to next year in Austin. Best wishes til then and, yes indeed, ...great picture.

Fellas,

I just re-found this page.... Thanks for all the kind words!

As long as the date of Billapalooza stays about the same...a week or more into November... I'll always be there.

Here's an observation: in most jams and song circles I find myself in, my Collings (any one I choose!! Smile ) really and truly stands out. Volume, clarity, tone.... There really aren't many guitars out there in everyday life that compare favorably, and one just doesn't run into many Collings in the everyday world.

And then I roll down to Billfest and I'm just one of dozens!! To be surrounded by that many extraordinary instruments... It's a wonder!! And to hear that many great pickers, singers, and songwriters... It's a wonderful weekend...

Some of you know that I post quite a bit on rmmga. Eleven years ago we started something called the East Coast Gathering that has grown to about seventy-five attendees, sometimes even more. Like Billfest, it's an assortment of great people, players, and styles. It's a roaring fun event.... The dates are April 30-May 3.... If anyone is interested, contact me offline.

See everyone next year at Collingstock, if not sooner!!
