Well, I won't blame anyone for poking fun at my prompt posting of this 2 year old tour.
I took mostly photos of the various build stations. Some photos are better than others. Since I have a foggy memory of the finer details, some of my captions may be incorrect. Feel free to correct me or offer any additional info. In case you don't want to view everything, scroll down to see Lyle Lovett's guitar which was in the repair shop during my Collings tour. I can't remember if it's the one on the left or right, but I think it's the one on the right, because I remember it was in for a bridge re-glue. I'll break the photos in separate posts in this thread. 16 in all. This message has been edited. Last edited by: starfish, |

This router is driven by computer software with the 3d model of the neck - CNC machine. These 5 necks are mandolins I believe. I think these cut / shave the sides. Blocks for shaping the sides? More neck / block work? Additional photos coming... This message has been edited. Last edited by: starfish, |

Various style guitar bodies drying after finishing applied. Working on a top. Aging tops in a rack. Very meticulous shaving for the bracing (a back?). Additional photos coming... |

Clamping / glueing. I was amazed at the diy ingenuity of the various tools in use. This isn't a clamp you can buy off the shelf. Purfling and binding. Master fretwork. Our tour guide. If I remember correctly, his name is Alex? Additional photos coming... |

Applying finish to the sides. Clamping the bridge and neck while glue sets. Photo bubble says "Gee I wish I had a Collings." Gee I wish I was on the beach with a model in a bikini, we got 3 feet of snow yesterday! Lyle Lovett's guitar in the repair shop. I think it's the one on the right. I remember it was there for a bridge re-glue. Please correct me if it's the one on the left. Set up work. This guitar was receiving a nut and bridge. That's all! Hope you enjoyed my 2-year old tour!
