Mark your calendars everyone! Oct 1,2 and 3 will see the second Collings Forum Gathering. Schedules haven't been set yet, but we'll probably do a factory tour Friday. At Homeboy's request, Brian will be glad to do at least some of the speaking to the group. On top of that, Brian is trying to get a Collings player to do a clinic for us. A few names have been mentioned, but it's too early to post. Think big, think Texas, think Collings, think blues...

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!!

Tommy Emmanuel will be playing in Austin Sunday night. Concert information at http://www.utexas.edu/student/txunion/ae/cactus/index.php?cactus=ticket
Tommy's website is http://www.tommyemmanuel.com/tommy.htm For those who can stay a little longer, he'll be in Houston on Monday.

AND YOU THINK THAT'S GOOD?

Kevin Davis of Hill Country Guitars is working on having Tommy do a workshop/clinic on early Sunday afternoon! Kevin will also help arrange a visit to a couple of other luthiers in Wimberly (20 minutes south of Austin), and we're also thinking about an open-mike, or at least a jam and a dinner on Allen White's deck. Texas October weather is fabulous.

We'll get together some information on lodgings in the area - both south Austin and Wimberly.

I'm hoping that if you can't come, you're eating your heart out, and if you were thinking about coming, you'll be inspired to commit.

See you there!

David

David,
Let me be the first one to officially say I'm in like a flea on a dog. I'm glad you looked at my calender and saw that weekend was open. Great job.

I had Tommy do a clinic in my shop last October when he was touring through here. Besides being an amazing player, he's a genuinely nice guy and way too humble for his talent.

I've spoken with his manager who thinks it'll be possible (there's a glass shop near my store that she loves), she's going to get back with me next month to talk about scheduling. So, keep your fingers crossed.
