For those of you that live in the Northern California region. I have been promoting this over at the AGF site but recently realized that there are few NorCal folks here too. Eiko please come by and play.

We are inching closer to our Northern California Open Mic night at the Pyramid Alehouse in Walnut Creek on May 6th.

Not to be too rule crazy but here are a few simple procedures we would like to follow so the evening is enjoyable for all. I have talked to a few venues that handle open mic nights and this is their simple procedure. Also, the event is NOT billed as an open mic by establishment. They aren't really keen on the open mic idea and asked me create some schedule and structure. They don't want it to turn in to a free for all by their regular Friday night crowd. So in a way it is a "private" open mic night. The event is billed by Pyramid Alehouse as "The Real Placebos" and Friends (it's the name that my playing partner and I use for our "combo".

If you would like to participate in the open mic event, you need to email me at brandtw@pacbell.net to secure your spot. The venue has a capacity for 10 performers; therefore, we will only be able to accept the first 10 that email their names to me. The deadline to add your name to the list of performers is Sunday May 1, 5 PM.

If you have not emailed me before the deadline or someone shows up at Pyramid Alehouse and wants to perform then their name goes into a hat and gets drawn AFTER the 1st 10 get their chance to perform their material.

Depending on how many people sign up we will limit the 1st go around to 2-3 songs for each performer. We should have enough time in the evening for a second round of songs by each performer that has signed up.

If you don't want to perform please come anyway and meet your fellow guitar enthusiasts. We had a mini local get together last weekend and had a blast.

See you soon.

Edit: I am sure I don't need to add this but remember this is an Acoustic only event.

Shoot.Gosh. Darn. Mad I was ready to send an email to sign up and I remembered I'm leaving for L.A. the morning of the 6th. I'm playing a set at a wedding reception on Saturday. Frown I wish I could do it. Thanks for thinking of me.

If you have another mini local gathering, please let me know. It's always fun to meet other players. Thanks again.
