Allen,
I declare you "Lord of the Strings". Cool

You have done an outstanding job (so far!) on this for all of us I just thought you deserved a title.

I'm sure W. Inn will start getting calls soon. Thanks again.

Lord of the Strings, huh? Hardly. Maybe Lord of the String Changes. Smile

Btw, when you call to make your reservations you should get clarification on their cancellation policy. I noticed that wasn't included in the docs they sent me. What they told me on the phone is when you make your reservation they will immediately charge one night's rent to your credit card as a deposit on the room. If you cancel up to 8 days before first night checkin then you will get that deposit back minus $10. If you cancel within 8 days of the first night checkin you will forfeit your entire deposit.

Allen, for those of us who missed the first two and joining this time.. do you think we can also schedule a visit to Precision Pearl Inlay Shop (1st Gathering) and Kinscherff Guitar (2nd Gathering)?

If you guys are interested, I'm sure Jamie Kinscherff would love to show you his shop and guitars.

Wimberley Inn is only about 4 miles from Jamie's shop.

If anyone has mild interest, you're so close, you might as well take a look and see what he's up to.

With us staying in Wimberley, a visit to Precision Pearl would be very difficult to pull off logistically.

Things are certainly coming together for this year's gathering. I was just talking to Kevin at Hill Country Guitars and he will definitely be hosting a guitar/songwriting clinic at his shop. We just can't commit just yet as to who will be giving that clinic. Of course we have the fingerstyle clinic that Ace will be giving as well as a tour of the Collings factory, a tour of Jamie Kinscherff's shop, a presentation of new Collings guitars by Kevin at Hill Country Guitars and Pat at Quincy's Guitars and plenty of picking and listening to live music opportunities. This promises to be the biggest gathering yet and I'm already fired up about it! Smile

I encourage you to make your reservations at the Wimberley Inn as soon as possible. If you'd like to share a room with somebody to reduce expenses please post that on the accomodations thread in the gathering section of the forum. If you need information on the Austin area or assistance with making your plans please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. I will do whatever I can to help.

If you would like to ship a guitar down for the gathering Kevin at Hill Country Guitars has graciously offered to receive those and ship them back to you aftewards (of course you'll have to pay for the shipping).

If there's anything we central Texans can do to facilitate you making the trip to Austin and Wimberley for the gathering please do not hesitate to ask. We'll do what we can to help.

Is there anyone planning to attend the gathering who could conduct a bluegrass clinic for us? We've got a fingerstyle clinic and a songwriting/guitar clinic scheduled already. It'd be cool if one of you grassers could demonstrate the finer points of bluegrass rhythm and lead to us. Send me a private message if you are interested in doing that.

Thanks,
Allen

After some intense negotiation, Fred Coates (aka, bluegrasd2ha) has agreed to host a bluegrass guitar clinic for us at the gathering. Check the schedule of events as well as the announcement of the clinic in the forum gathering section for details.

The Gathering is less than three months away and will be here before we know it. I'd like to start getting a finalized list of attendees so we can do the final planning. I'll update the attendees thread under the gathering section of the forum as I get confirmations from people that they will for sure be there. If you are going to be at the gathering I need you to either email me or send me a private message here on the forum and let me know. Also, if you'd be so kind, please let me know if you plan to stay at the Wimberley Inn or not and, if you are, have you made your reservation.

Thanks and let's make this the biggest and best forum gathering yet!

Just two months away now! It's going to be a fun one. Below is the list of unconfirmed attendees. If you are on this list I'd appreciate it if you would pm or email me and let me know as soon as you can whether or not you will for sure be at the gathering. I need to make final preparations and I'd like to get as close to a final headcount as I can asap. This is non-binding. If you change your mind later that's okay. Also, if you aren't on the attendee list and you want to be added let me know that as well.

Thanks,
Allen
