Okay, I talked to the folks at the Wimberley Inn. They said they have some nice places on the grounds for us to sit and pick and that they wouldn't mind that at all. They also have a large room in the main building that we could use. This building also has two "Supreme" guest rooms (I think these are the Limiteds on the web page) so if we happen to rent those rooms we'd basically have the entire main building to ourselves. The other rooms are Deluxe and Standard. Deluxe rooms are in a new building and are a bit larger and better furnished than the Standard. The Standards are the oldest rooms, but are in the process of being renovated so several of them will be updated before the Gathering. The Standards are arranged in a more motel like setup than the Deluxes or Supremes. The Supreme rooms are more B&B and there are only two of them. All the rooms have a mix of either single King, single Queen or two Queen beds so you'd have to specify when you made your reservation what you needed.

As for the reservations they are going to get back to me on potential group discounts. What do know is that when you make your reservation they will charge the first night's rate to your card as a deposit. If you cancel at least 8 days before the checkin night you will get that refunded minus $10. If you cancel within 8 days of checkin you forfeit the entire deposit.

In the 2005 Forum Gathering Updates section of the forum there is a thread called "Vote on Forum Gathering Accomodations". In that thread there is a poll where you can vote on which you would prefer: Wimberley Inn or Cypress Creek Cottages.

I'm liking the looks of the Wimberley too. I think that's the one I just voted for.

Just wanted to bump this thread to the top to remind folks who haven't voted on the accomodations for the gathering to do so if you are so inclined (i.e., if you care). I'm going to let the poll run until mid next week. Right now the Wimberley Inn is up 5 to 1.

If you haven't seen it yet there's an exciting announcement in the forum gathering section about a fingerstyle workshop we will be having at the gathering.

Here's a link to it.

Man.... I thought I had it made... I'm retired from teaching and now work only five months of the year at what once was my summer job, now my only job... And the Collings gathering is during one of those months!
There's nothing I'd like to do more than hang out with a bunch of fellow Collings owners and shoot the breeze about these things. I guess there's no chance this could happen the first weekend on November, is there? I'll bring all my Collings and tell a sad story about one of them! :-)

Best wishes to all.....

It looks like the Wimberley Inn is going to be the Gathering HQ. Before any of you start booking rooms though let me get in touch with them and get some details on rates and such. I will post all that in a new topic once I have it.

The folks at the Wimberley Inn are going to put together their package for us in an email and send it to me early next week. As soon as I have that I will post it for everyone to use for making their reservation. They are genuinely excited that we are going to be staying with them and they can't wait to hear all the beautiful music we will play there. I think this is going to be a lot of fun.

Please wait until we receive their email next week before you make a reservation.
