My wife, a freind and I are thinking about going to the Steve Kaufman camp. I've read the litature and it says class sizes can be as large as 22 people. I have several questions: If you have attended one of these camps do you think your playing improved because of it. Did you feel like you got personal atttention in regards to what you need to work on to make yourself a better player. Finally we would be going the second week and none of the "big guns" are at the second week. Do you think it is still just as benifical. Any feedbacks would be helpful.
Even if we just jam for a week it would still be fun but we can do that where we live. |

I would put it this way: My playing did not automatically improve simply by attending kamp. What kamp provides is tons of information for you to take and learn from. But the onus is on the student to put in the time with the information given.
There is not a whole lot of one-on-one time during the classes. However, there are opportunities to interact with the instructors outside of the classroom. Last summer was my first time at kamp, and I have to say that it was a wonderful experience. Besides the classes, the concerts and late-night jamming are just amazing. It really more fun than I could possibly explain well in a post. Trust me, its more than worth it. As for the "big guns", my experience was that the lesser-known instructors were quite often the best instructors. I thought the best instructor I had last year was a guy who I had never before heard of. He was a fabulous player and a better teacher. Suffice it to say, all of the instructors, whether big names or lesser known people, are all tremendous talents. You will pick something up from all of the instructors. |

I couldn't agree more, I really enjoyed it and I had the same feelings about the instructors. they are very approachable and willing to help any way they could
