Hello Y'all.I spent some time at the Namm show today. Specifically I wanted to visit National and Collings and luckily for me they were near each other. For those of you who have not experienced NAMM, just visualize Guitar Center on a Saturday afternoon multiplied by 1000. And I am not exaggerating. Now I am not much for posting on forums but I learned something today that might help someone who is considering a special order Collings. I have very much appreciated the help I have gotten on this forum the last two weeks and perhaps this information will be of help. I learned about the vintage style neck here and about the similarities and differences between it and the standard neck. I have an OM with a standard neck and today played a vintage neck. Both are acceptable but the former is a little smaller than I like and the latter a bit too large. So voila, enter the new neck size called "vintage modern".It is in between the two sizes and is more rounded. For me it is perfect! So if you are considering neck shapes, you now have more options. By the way, the Collings guys were great and went out of their way to discuss my dream C-10.Michael.Oh yeah, almost forgot, string spacing is 2 1/4".

Hi Blueboy, thanks for the information! Wonder if we can order it with all models or just their OM and D like the Vintage Option.

Hello Ed. I don't know the answer to your question. I was trying to remember what guitar the vintage modern neck was on, it was on the varnished Dread. Man, that guitar kicked some serious butt! I'm not into Dreads but I loved that one. I asked if it had light guage strings on it and was told they were mediums. Seems the varnish allows the top to flex and thus allows heavier strings to not feel as stiff. The guitar is a monster. With the vintage modern neck on it, it sounds and plays unbelievable. If I were considering a Dread, I would save the extra coin for the finish. I really don't believe you can buy a better non-vintage Dread.
