Saturday, August 27th, 1 to 4 p.m. at Gryphon.....From the website:
"Don’t miss this chance to get a rare peek inside the Collings Guitar and Mandolin Company. Both Bill Collings and shop foreman Bruce Van Wort will be on hand, explaining each image in an impressive slide show detailing the complex blend of high-tech and handwork that produces the legendary Collings quality and consistency. Considering their enviable position in the world of high-end guitars and mandolins, it’s easy to forget that Bill Collings was just another solitary builder until a little over twenty years ago. In this lecture and slide presentation, you’ll see what it takes to build larger numbers of guitars and mandolins that are widely acclaimed as displaying the finest "fit and finish” in the industry. Don’t confuse Collings’ presentation with the video kits and traveling clinics of larger music industry companies; this will be a straightforward “here’s what we do and why” by two guys who are up to their eyeballs in sawdust daily, building Collings instruments admired around the globe. There will be ample time for questions, and we’ll have more than our usual number of Collings instruments on display." |
