How many of those considering attending the gathering are songwriters? The reason I ask is that there's a plethora of legendary Texas singer/songwriters around here. I could probably arrange a songwriters workshop if there was enough interest.
Say, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Susan Gibson. Ray's a legendary Texas singer/songwriter. And Susan wrote "Wide Open Spaces" for the Dixie Chicks, the number one selling country song of all time. I haven't checked their schedules or anything, but thought if you guys were interested, I could start working on that as well. kdd |

I'd be interested in such a workshop. I've been an aspiring songwriter for about, oh, 40 years now.

A songwriter workshop would be extremely cool. I'm planning to be there, but cannot commit until we get a little closer to the dates. Everything ya'll are discussing sounds great.

I don't know if I would even call myself "aspiring," but it is an area of my musicianship I want to develop. That would be a tremendous addition to the gathering.

Aspiring to write or not, those are two of my favorite local musicians. Singer/songwriters also tend to be real characters who have a great eye for those little things that with some imagination and skill can turn into great stories/songs. I guess I'm saying that even if I don't write, workshopping with a singer/songwriter would appeal to the old English major in me...
