Just wanted to let ya'll know that if your in the Houston area on Friday March 21st, there's a Dan Crary workshop 7pm at Ovations.

www.ovationsnightclub.com

I know there are some houston folks on this board so I thought I'd let them know. I'm gonna go over there after work and check it out. David Ely made a comment about the one he attended in San Antonio in another post and I've heard great things about Dan's Workshops from other flatpickers.

If you're interested come on out, it sounds like it will be alot of fun

George, Dan is supposed to be at Guitar Center here in Austin right around now too. I don't know if he's already been there or is there tonight or what. You might want to give them a call.

Thanks guys. I read the post too late to get there on time. I called and they had already started right on 7pm and said it would last an hour. So Rats again! Well I was going to try to leave here early on Friday and go to the Houston gig as I would like to have checked out Ovations. But RATS again, my inlaws that I would have stayed with are going to be in Austin this weekend. Just ain't gonna happen. Check ya later.

Go if you get the chance.

The workshop in San Antonio lasted 2, 2 1/2 hours. Great playing, great stories. Taylor commercial was tolerable - more about being lucky that we live in the era where 2 or 3 thousand will get you a guitar of undeniable quality, and whichevery you chose, find the one that speaks and BUY IT (Thank God my wife was with me to hear that! I got lots of support from the crowd on that point) He didn't just let the crowd ask about what kind of strings do you use, how do you practice, how do you hold the pick ... he pushed us to ask questions to help get over plateaus in our own playing. I came away with some new ideas for more focused practice.

And forget about the playing. Phenomenal.

My wife, who enjoys live music but doesn't play, enjoyed the whole thing - the music, the comraderie, the philosophising...Best Taylor workshop I've been to.
