For some time I've been considering replacing the Gibson style tailpiece on my early MT2. My understanding is the Collings tailpiece should improve the sustain. I'm very happy with how the mando sounds but if it can sound even better why not make the upgrade. I would have a professional do the work.

If you've made this upgrade what are your thoughts, change in sound, fit e.g do the holes line up etc. Any other comments. Or maybe I just have too much time on my hands to think about things. :-)

A good question. My girlfriend has considered it also and I would like to hear of any experiences on this subject.
