I be that cad boss....sorry....I had just finished this mornings posts here and flew off the handle, threw a bunch of junk in the car and headed down to AMW. Mary's mando descriptions got me all fired up and I had to go.
It was almost all about mandos today only tried a few guitars the new 0 mad G is exceptional.I liked your one Brentrup Mary, the Ad top 21, it was first on the list for awhile...very sweet, nice playing/sounding/looking mandolin. Also, your Gibson A is one of the cleanest, best sounding ones I've seen in quite a while. The blackface oval MT2,birdseye MT2's are great too but the one that spoke to me the most was the amber MF with the wide grain Ad. top. I couldn't deny it...it was the one.All the strings are even...that's amazing! You hit a chord and you hear every string but all in perfect harmony and equal loudness....very rare to find that kind of balance and openess in even the best of mandos and this one is only one week out of Austin. Of course like Mary has already mentioned the MF5 Deluxe V is on a whole other level. That is the best new mando I've ever played.... period. I tried to trade my wife's Honda Civic but Steve said it would take up too much showroom floor space...he's right but I'm happy and tired-handed,just got done playing Amber Jean the Gloss-top Queen and her highly figured one-piece back......yummy....this blonde does have more fun.
Thanks Boss, you've got a friend in the Helpful Enabler. That link to the mandolin store shows an even prettier blonde back than mine. Get out of the corner and bring her home!
A year ago, Kay and I drove through the off-the-beaten-path town of Wickenberg AZ and spent a couple of hours at the Mandolin Store. I have been thinking about a nice Honey Amber MF ever since I saw them in the Collings factory mandolin room.
I also just traded my Northwood 00 for an '05 Collings all hog OM.
Jefe take nap now.
