I just traded my 1935 National style O guitar for a collings Mt2H A style mandolin. I loved that national but it sits in its case most of the time. I just aint cut out to be a blues singer. The mandolin is great. Now I've got my two Collings instruments lined up when I play, the D1 and the MT2H. Nice little family.

Excellent mandolin. I have a nice little Collings family too: 1993 D2H, 2000 D1A and 2002 MT2. Great mandolin, warm, open and woody.
Cheers.

Congrats on the new addition to the family. Did you try out other models before deciding on the MT2H? My 2002 MT2R is a nice sounding mando also. I played a couple Dearstone, several Rigels and Gibsons. Decided the MT2R tone was for me.

I have not tried out too many other mandos. I don't get a chance to see that many quality mandolins. My current mando is a Weber Asaroka, nice instrument, but not as loud as I'd like. I play left handed, so I really dont get to actually play an instrumentI bought the MT2H from Buffalo Brothers. I tried several there. There was a very nice older Flatiron from the early Bruce Weber days. That had nice tone and volume. The Weber Beartooth was pretty good too. I played a left handed Breedlove Oregon model. Sounded like the equivalent to an Ovation guitar. There were several good choices in the price range. The MT2H should do until I can afford a nice custom left handed f hole mando.
