Shaun,
I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing Engelmann. MT's aren't marketed with Adirondack tops like their fancier brothers, and I've seen some MT's advertised as Engelmann. They are often advertised as generic spruce which might mean Sitka. '99 D1A / '07 CWMhAVarn / '07 D2HBaG / MT |

When I bought my MF Kim at Cotten Music tokd me the top wood was Engelmann. So I would think there's a good chance the MT is also Engelmann.

LaVonne,
Your MF should have an Adirondak top, NOT Engleman. You can call Collings to confirm by serial number, but to my knoweldge, all the Collings F-Models use Adirondak. -Andrew |

Emailed Collings yesterday afternoon asking what top wood was used. I'll post the reply when I receive it.

Here's the reply I received from Alex Rueb.
--------------------------------------------- Thanks for your email. All of the MF's have Adirondack spruce tops. The only model that we build that doesn' t have an Adirondack top is the MT, which has an Engelmann top. I hope you are enjoying the mandolin. Please let me know if you have any further questions. -------------------------------------------- My Guitars and Mandolins ----------------------------- MF and MT-2 Mandolins Collings C10 Maple Custom, O1ASB, OM1AC Santa Cruz H14, Shelley Park Elan 14, Heritage Sweet 16 |
