Anyone know of a place where there are good sound samples of the new Collings Oval Hole Mando? I am most curious. Thanks.

Mary, nobody is twisting your arm... but it would be nice to get an opinion from someone who has actually played one. it's hard to trust dealer opinions, they certainly are not going to say the MT O is a disastor. maybe you could find time to run out and play the one that's closest to you? I certainly would if I could.

Hey guys, here's one for your mando brains: the 2 mandolins at The Music Emporium are slightly different: one has a one-piece back, the other has a two-piece back. Any difference in sound? Just curious.

call and ask which was the namm show one. you can bet you knickers on that fact that the namm show ones have Bill's DNA on them.

as for one piece/two piece.......call TME and ask Ian to play them both for you. he's a great mando player and is a straight shooter.

I've played the MT Oval at Gryphon Strings. It still has the characteristics of an MT but has more sustain and is mellower, especially when you are picking/strumming over the fretboard. Very nice.
