looks like they'll sell at $3600 at 10% off 4000, not bad relative to the mt2 line. i love the deep warm tone of a mandola.

The factory DID make that 8 string CJ octave mando a few years back. The original buyer sold it soon after for only about 2k on Ebay. I remember it quite well. Super interesting axe...

Is that a Collings F Mandola you got coming Beal ? If so, I need to start selling and saving right now.

From MandoCafe: "Future plans include adding oval hole and satin versions later in 2010, with the possibility of an F version."

Anyone heard of Collings' production plans/schedule for mandolas...something more concrete than this little teaser?

Re. an octave mandola of some sort: I asked at NAMM, and one of the guys (not BC) nodded seriously and said "very likely."

Peg, do you mean octave mandolin? Or octave mandola?

Sparky, I made my query about an octave mandola, but I may have been misinterpreted, and I didn't frame my question (scale/tuning) accurately enough to glean anything worth passing on. My apologies. NAMM is fraught and I couldn't spend the time I'd really like at my favourite booths, such as Collings. Fun, though.
