Congrats on the V.
Just a "regular" MF gloss top here, and a buddy got the "5" version, but yet to get my hands on a varnish.
Gotta try one some day.
How about some pics when you take a break or your fingers get sore ?

Congratulations on the new mandolin! The varnish mandolins sound great from day one, and it will get even better as you play it for a few months. I have an MT-2V that is about a year and a half old and it's really opening up nicely.

Hi Rick,

The varnish mando's come standard with the pick guard. My last mandolin(Weber Yellowstone) did not have one so I am not use to it yet but I think Collings did a nice job not covering any of the "F" hole.

Hi Seth,

Thanks, I love the MT-2V as well!

I wonder how these mandolins will sound in 5-10 years? Lloyd Loar look out!
