Anybody ever compared the Gibson F-9 and A-9 to Collings MF and MT and care to weigh in on their findings? I've only ever seen one A-9 and thought it sounded a bit warmer and more open than an MT but MT had better overall build quality and fret work.I've never played a F-9. What sayest thee?

In my experience it is the same comparison as the A9 / MT ....woody vs balanced w/ cleaner build q.

You best play them side-by-side to get the best evaluation. Also, I have experienced that the F-9's are wildly inconsistent. I played a used one at a music store, and if I had the $2,000 asking price - I would have bought it. Based on that - when I got some money together I bought one via Mandocafe classified - and man was it a dog.

YMMV

I wouldn't overlook the Gibson Jam Master line...I just got a Jam Master F and like it better than the MF I just sold....it was deeper/throatier and louder.....love it....I also prefer it's bigger neck....
