I'm enjoying this discussion. I own MT2 #209 and MF #229. I've never played a newer Collings so I can't contribute much but the discussion is very interesting. PTO I love the pic of your MT1. Thanks for posting it. My MT2 also has the original tailpiece.

The MT-1 is interesting. My MT-1, s/n 33, has a satin finish and an Engleman top. Some of these had Adi tops. It is a very nice sounding instrument, but I haven't compared it to newer Collings.
