I'm in process to purchase a TOB #28.I assume the original retail being 5500.00 -10 to 20%.The selling price would be in that area. Has anybody bought one recently? Or have any thoughts on this? I also play an Mf-5 and a 1923"snake head"A-4. Where would the TOB fit: A-4]---L--+--R---[MF-5
right or left of plus? thanks so much,Frank

I don't think the dealers discounted TOB's from the list price, as demand was greater than supply.

Nugget/Collings Tim O'Brien mandolin. Mike Kemnitzer (Nugget) carved the tops and backs from his stash, and the mandolins were assembled and finished by Collings. There were 35 made, including 2 prototypes. 32 were finished in lacquer, 3 in varnish.

I have one of the varnish TOBs. There are photos in the Nugget/Collings TOB?? thread.

4k difference in price? The options must have been different or is someone out to try to make way more than this is worth?

If anyone is interested #3 is going for $6500.00 at Mandolin Cafe and that is a fair price.

I love it when someone shoots the market in the foot. I doubt that it will last long at that price.
