Just post the pics here Beal, then all who are interested can have a look. Maybe some pics of your lacquer one too?

Actually I never really had the lacq one, flipped it right away and the dealer was able to sell it as new with warrentee. Kinda funny how I wound up with two, I'll tell you someday.

Beal, you know I'd love to hear the story. You can PM it to me also if that is better for you. I actually would LOVE to write a book /collection of stories about instruments. I have somewhere around 50 axes. There is not one of them, that I could'nt bore you to tears with stories about... Like how I ended up with my '52 Gibson Southern Jumbo that was in a suitcase in 20 pieces when I got it.(exageration by the way!)..

I go away to the hunting cabin for a couple nice quiet weeks and come back to this. Now I gotta start selling off some things to make cash and room for the Mandola.

Just what I have been waiting for, mine will be honey amber to match my Oval hole F style. So the 'Dola should be the same.

I think I will do just that. And if he comes to the Miami (Newport) show this coming spring I'll do just that in person. LOL

Under the condition he brings one along for me to at least get a look at.

Over on the 'cafe someone emailed Alex at Collings and he said the mandola should be out "sometime in the next few months."
The news that interested me was that they apparently have an octave on the drawing board but no ETA at this point. If they come out with an octave I'm gonna have to put my $$$ where my mouth is and get in line for one. I can't wait to see what they come up with!

There was that 8 string octave that they made a few years ago that ended up on Ebay last year. It was based on the slope shoulder guitar they make and was a sunburst. No one wanted it, and it sold for vera cheep, say $1700?

Where is the market you ask...?

"Mandolas are ok, but not enough to buy one. I mean, I have a Collings mandolin and a Collings guitar that keep me plenty busy."

"What? Now Collings makes mandolas too?" "Crap".

There.... there is your market Smile.
