I'm thinking of buying a used Collings MT2, made in 2,002. I've heard that their recent mandolins are better. Anyone have an opinion on mandolin quality back in 2,002?
Thanks! |

I am sure someone here will have the precise dates, but Collings has only been making production mandos since around 2000. Even the first ones off the line were met with pretty impressive reviews. I have never seen a bad Collings mandolin and I think in they are very consistent in terms of sound and quality.
If you want a nice A and if you like Collings mandolin sound you wont be disappointed with an MT2. |

Hey! My first Collings was a 93 D2H. Yours isn't #780 by any chance, is it? Micro-ding in the front lower treble side bout?

sonoman: My D2H is #853 and the label says 5/93. It's a great guitar. Chuck

So was ol' #780, but it had to go when I got the D1AV in 96. That's about ten guitars ago. Don't ask.

I have a 2002 MT2 and it's a wonderful instrument. I too have heard that later onces have been 'adjusted' and recently a a store I compared mine with a new MF. I thought the MF was even better But it wasn't a huge difference. They seem to have been great instruments from the start.

I know that this is an old thread, but anyhow: I have a 2000 MT-1 that sounds wonderful.
