I am considering the purchase of an arm rest on one of Collings A style mando. I quess my posture/playing position is incorrect; killing my picking hand/forearm. Here's the thing... Does anybody on the forum use one of these and what is your experience. Thanks for the info. phil

I've got a Dudenbostel ebony arm rest on my MT2V. LOVE IT. It is smaller (and IMHO more aesthetically pleasing) than others available and it "fits" the mandolin perfectly. Makes a real difference in playing comfort to me.

Thanks Duolian ! Nice instruments !!! You never did answer my question about the Stetsbar; Is the 290 still sans Stets? Where did you pick up the rest; straight from Dudes shop? Phillip

Hi Phillip:

Dude arm rest came from Lynn via mandolin Cafe ad. But he has a new website, so you can contact him directly (and check out his amazing instruments).

The 290 is sans Stets...it's in the case awaiting its next turn. Not going to sell it...sorry for the delay in responding.

I was afraid you wouldn't want to part with it! It was a cool setup on the 290. Duolian I am considering putting the 000-Mhg with the all over sunburst. Would you be so kind as to pm the history this guitar that you are aware of? Thanks Duolian.
ps I'll just have to bite the bullet and get a Stetsbar for my TV Yellow 290. phil

I have an armrest on my Collings A that Doug Edwards (hillcountrystringworks.com) sells on Mandolin Cafe. Very nicely made, fits well, and definitely provides some comfort for me. Doug is great to deal with.

Geoff, ...great picture. Looking at that mando, which was easily the most regrettable instrument sale I ever made, 'cept for the fact that it allowed us to meet and become friends, it looks amazingly like the MT2V I've had for a couple of years (without the armrest, which I easily included with the mando because ("another country heard from" alert), armrests have never made a difference to me--I purposefully wear longsleeved shirts playing guitar or mando and there is no issue).

Either, Geoff, your mando had taken on a pumpkin patina (I remember it being more of a standard blonde--and a very striking one at that--with one of the best birdseye backs on any mando in existence) or my eyes have. Darn if that picture doesn't make yours look just like mine, which I had altered from the prototype amber I asked Collings to do on the MF5V to a tint that had more brown in it.

Back to armrests ....

I also have an armrest from Doug Edwards with a nice fish inlay. PM me for pics... I might even sell it... I sold the mandolin I had used it on. It is like new condition.

I received my rest today from Doug and installed it; Nice fit and I think it's going to releave some fore arm pain/discomfort. Phil
