For you guys flying to Austin in November, have you investigated the airline policies of free baggage vs. baggage charges with regard to your guitars?

No, but here are the lyrics of one of my new songs, "Flying Coach"

I'm in the airport now, past security
I'm carrying on my guitar, but I had to pay an extra fee
I can't wait 'till I get there, we'll head off to the show
Flying coach to a first class someone that I know

Chorus
The plane is rough
The seats, they're small
They charged me for my water
And that's not all
The lines are long
Another delay
They lost my bags,
But at least I'm on my way

I hear the weather's fine there, this time of year
I'm going to hurry up and wait and order another beer
Through the line, unto the plane, I'm looking for my row,
Flying coach to a first class someone that I know

Chorus

The lady sitting next to me, she smells a little funny
Hogging up that armrest, she ain't no playboy bunny
They asked me if I'd like to buy a blanket and pillow
Flying coach to a first class someone that I know

Chorus

I'll just close my eyes and enjoy the turbulence
Flying or driving, which is worse? I'm sitting on the fence
Dealing with the torture, looking out my window
Flying coach to a first class someone that I know

Chorus

Kia Manuia,

Dale

Dale,

Maybe one of the airlines will pickup your song for an ad campaign. Frown

Great lyrics, Dale. Can't wait to hear it performed on your new one-of-a-kind Collings.

See you in November.

Hey Eric. I'm flying to Denver next month on United. Their policy, FWIW, is charging for the third bag, information available at their website. I'm guessing any airline you fly on would have their baggage policies posted at their website. Cheers!

B,

I did read one airline policy...Delta or AirTran, I think it was. They were charging for the 2nd bag. And if the first bag was larger than a certain dimension (maybe 62"), they charged for it too. Depending on how they calculate that dimension, it sure seems like a guitar case would exceed 62" (l x w x h ?). So you end up paying to check a guitar case.
