So I've read the entirety of this message group and I'm really excited to come...I have family in Austin and this would be yet another reason to head home. Is there something being planned for this year? -sk
We usually get serious about planning in June or July. It will probably happen the weekend of November 7 & 8. We usually stay at the Wimberley Inn in Wimberley, Texas. It's a great time. Keep checking on the forum. There will probably be something posted in early summer.

Hey, Jim, are you going to drive this thing this year? Let me know if you need me to do anything, my friend. I'm sure the same goes for Ely. Just let us know.
I'm really looking forward to the Wimberley Inn song circle on the Saturday night of the gathering. If any of you need another reason to make the pilgrimage Saturday night on the deck at the Wimberley Inn is it!
Hopefully it will be that weekend. I was planning on attending, taking I-10 west all the way. Getting friends from Az and Co to come as well with their Collings. How many people come usually?

Looks like the 7 & 8. The Wimberley is definitely our first choice. Still working with Denece there and negotiating. She's making some noises about wanting to charge for the use of the deck. At this point, I'm a bit concerned about this. Anyone interested in maybe ponying up about $25 each? If not, there are certainly enough places around the grounds for us to gather and pick. Perhaps one of our Texas friends could bring their barbecue and some briquets and we can do some hamburgers and . . .

I don't really have a problem with them charging for our exclusive use of the deck on Saturday night as long as it is reasonable. $25 to $50 for the entire group for the entire night and use of the grill seems reasonable to me. Any more than that and I'm going to start expecting them to cater it for us.
On the other hand, nothing says we have to stay at the Wimberley Inn again...
Mauvais, we had probably 10 to 12 folks there last year. About 6 or 8 of us at the Saturday night jam. Maybe a few more than that at the Friday night jam at Quincy's.
Allen, Thanks for the reply. If plans solidify I can help with the rental. 10 is a nice number, but it can be more too. I just finished hosting a clinic here on Amelia with 25 and it was a big time. There are a ton of pictures posted on it, www.ovationfanclub.com and it's the AmeliaMatt Clinic. Matt Smith was the instructor and used my C-10.

I think that booking either the deck or the big dining room usually carries a charge - they've let us use both free for the last couple of years. I won't mind paying a little rent for the great time we'll have, and I won't ho9ld it against them for asking. I'm open to other places, but on the ohter hand, how many hotels have that kind of set up? I looked at hotels in Austin last year, and beyond having a lobby that expects quiet, they don't offer a gathering place as nice. Our usual hosts, Pat from Quincy's, Kevin from Hill Country, and Collings Guitars have all agreed that Nov 7/8 works for them.
I'll be there with my little old C-10.

I'm with you on this one, David. I'm still negotiating with the good folks at the Wimberley Inn and expect that we'll come out all right, although it will cost us something. It would be very helpful if we could commit for sure on a definite number of rooms. What does everyone think about this?

I'm in and that probably means 4, Steve from NC, Dave from Az, Stephant28 from Co and me from Fl. Somebody organizing this send me an email off line, I'd like to talk about the set up/sponsoring things etc....
