This morning in St. Paul it is -14 F. While driving to work, the tips of my fretting fingers where stinging from the cold, even with my gloves on. My other hand was fine. Ever since I started playing the guitar, the tips of my fingers on my left hand are very sensitive to the cold. This is not a complaint, just an observation. I also find it difficult to put in a contact lens and pick up change on the night stand. The things we put up with for playing our beloved Collings. Stay warm.

Hey I live in MN too. It was -28 F here this morning. Quite frankly Rick I am not accustomed to such whinning about the cold. This via Canada stuff must be a bunch of BS. Just kidding. As for your fretting hand I think you are just going through a conditioning phase. Keep your fingers on the fretboard 1 hour per day and all discomfort should disappear in 6 months. I am not a doctor but I play one with my girlfriend.

Rick, if thiscontinues next winter, I'd see an internist about it.

There are a couple of possible causes, and it should be properly diagnosed to determine what, if any treatment there might be.

A friend had similar symptoms and after years of messing with it, decided to move to PHoenix. End of symptoms.
