A trick I try, learned after playing four hour gigs six nights a week in a valley with dry air (Jackson Hole) is to lightly coat the left hand fingertips with chapstick. Really. To me, it helps keep the skin more supple and smooths out those grooves (customarily black from new strings and long hours) that give us mutants away. Can't hurt. Fits easily in the levis pocket (or Wranglers if that's your thing; it is the cowboy choice in Wyoming, but I've been wearing 501's since '64 and ain't changing horses now). thanks tom
