when you hear lists of great sixties songwriters, you always hear (as well you should) lennon/mccartney, and simon and taylor and mitchell and lieber and stoller and holland/dozier/holland....others, but John Sebastian often gets overlooked. he belongs in that pantheon. he wrote GREAT songs. tom
1965. Kingston, PA. The Beach Boys and the Lovin' Spoonful at the Armory. John came out and strummed the opening chords to "Do You Believe In Magic" on the autoharp. He had the crowd. I won't say they stole the show from the boys from Cali, with Glen Campbell on bass, but the guys from NYC sure were a great opening act! Thanks for the link Winfield.
