For those of you who knew him, Mark Steib, a very talented guitar player and long time sales rep at Buffalo Brothers passed away recently while undergoing heart bypass surgery. Mark was the guy you went to when needing advice on many of the high-end builders' guitars -- especially Collings. He had a counselor technique when it came to selling a guitar and always tried to match the right guitar to the player and was always very candid. I referred many a player to him for his help and they all came away saying, "What a great guy. He's someone I'd like to have as a friend." I bought his Collings OM-2HBaaa that most players thought was one of the best to come out of the Austin factory. He sometimes regretted selling the guitar and I always refered to it as Mark's guitar. I probably always will. He would reply that it was no longer his but I'd make him chuckle when I said it wasn't for sale but that he could have it back for what I paid him for it. He went in for some bypass surgery but he didn't make it. Mark is survived by his wife and two children.

Condolences to you, Mike, and to Mark's family. Mark sounds like just the kind of guy you would want helping you when you went into a music store. I'll offer a prayer for Mark and his family. Pax Vobiscum.
