Yup, there are plenty of excellent capos out there, and I too used a Shubb for a long time (still use their partial capo, but that's another thread). The Elliott is just so right. It plays great, looks great, and feels great. Simply put, its the state of the art. Maybe that's why it goes so well with a beautiful Collings No question, it costs more, but I've yet to meet the player who after buying one ever complained about the cost.

You all probably knew this, but some capos have vinyl on the clamp that will eat your neck finish alive. I bought a new, easy-to-use Kyser capo (in red!) to go with my D2H, after using a metal Hamilton D-shaped capo for 20-odd years on my low-budget Yamaha. Big mistake. By the time I figured it out, the damage was done to the back of my git's neck. Spots and spots galore. Bummer. Only then did I read this, from the amazing Frank Ford: Frets.com: Vinyl is your ENEMY! BTW, now I am a happy Shubb user. Shoulda paid for that in the first place...

I was watching a video on YouTube yesterday with Kenny Smith, Grier and Wyatt Rice (with some mighty fine flatpickin by each on Bill Cheatham). Could not tell for sure, but it looked like all three were sporting an Elliott or Elliott-McKinney. Seems like Phil's got the "industry standard".

just got my Elliott in the certified mail. Looks like jewelry. Unbelievably well made. Could have engraved my kids' names on it, proudly (in lieu of teething rings or baby cups.) Oh, and it works just fine, and I won't lose it, or worse, drop it on the top of my new 02HG...

My experience exactly, 4-day turnaround from order to delivery, and I did this twice: once from my brother's gift, and then when I saw how cool it was, I had to get one for myself . The evenness of applied pressure makes a great difference in maintaining intonation when installing ... just a terrific design and equally fine workmanship. I'd say they're easily worth the money.

The Elliott strikes again! Once you get your hands on one (whether its the Elliott or the Elliott-McKinney), ya gotta have it. Dave B, glad to hear your enjoying yours, and welcome to the club.

I have an Elliot and I love it. For those who have tried the Elliot, McKinney or Elliot-McKinney, which do you prefer and why? Thanks.
