I am looking to for instrumental (or as close as I can get) flatpick and/or bluegrass CD that I can easily isolate the guitar. Perhaps guitar-only CD? Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi MaRio,

You might try Bryan Sutton's "Bluegrass Guitar." It's all instrumental, the guitar is mixed up front, particularly when playing lead, and the picking is clean, tasty, brisk, and beautiful. Very fine album. His "Ready to Go" is also excellent, although there are 4-5 vocals, and several folk or jazz pieces.

David Grier, who's without a doubt the best flatpicker ever, recently released an album called "I've Got the House to Myself" that's all solo guitar. Astonishing as it is, it does fall outside what is traditionally thought of as bluegrass flatpicking: I would suggest listening to a couple of cuts before acquiring, if you can.

Good luck.

Several other good ones are Clarence White's 33 Acoustic Guitar Instrumentals and a CD called Bluegrass Guitar Duets by Sandy Rothman and Steve Pottier. These cds are classic clean picking.

You may want to try the cd from Dan Crary called "Bluegrass Guitar". Hard to top that one.
