I am having difficulty making an Ammaj7th chord using the following tabs
0
1 (which finger?)
1 (which finger?)
2 (which finger?)
0
X

I have just begun to try to play this chord and am having difficulty holding down the B and G string with my first finger. It is part of a progression that goes Am, Ammaj7, Am7
I use the standard fingering for Am and Am7.
Peace,
Rip

I play e on the d string with my 2nd finger, and bar g# and c on the g and b strings with my first finger. I can't think of an easier way to do this. Dan

Thanks Dan.
When I use the fingering you suggest, it hurts my wrist. On anohter forum, someonoe suggested the 'old middle finger salute' fingering in which I use the pointer to barre g# on the c adn g on the b and e on the d string with the third finger. This works better for me. The song I am working on is Mercy Seat as sung by Johnny Cash so the old 1 finger salute works best.
Peace,
Rip

Depends on what comes before and after but feels most natural to me with index on the third string and, second finger on the second strings and third finger on the fourth string.
