Anyone have thoughts on this particular wood for the top? I know it is a hybrid but I was wondering who has played any guitars with it and, if so, your thoughts on the sound, what playing styles it would be best for, etc.
I believe John Greven uses this spruce quite a bit. A well respected builder, but I haven't had the pleasure of playing any of his instruments. Maybe others here have.
I will probably do a separate thread on this guitar a bit later but Lutz Spruce caught my eye. This little Woolson beauty I just got because I was lucky enough to be first in line on its recent roadtrip. It's a double top with Lutz spruce inner and cedar outer. You have all the cedar tone warmth with the added the power and clarity of Lutz spruce. The double top construction means much lighter bracing is needed and you end up with a guitar that is responsive plus having huge available headroom when pushed. It is a double bottom also (Cocobola). I am a happy camper. Rick
