I would like to order a Calton Case for my new L-00. Where you think you can get one faster and at a good price?

Janet Davis has the best prices I've found. Good luck with your search.

I recently (like a month ago) picked up a Calton from Mass Street Music. I found that several dealers had dread-sized Caltons available, but getting an OM sized case was difficult. Mass Street was the only dealer that I found when I was looking that had the OM size available without a wait. Wait times from Calton are now exceeding 6 months in length for a new order, I was told by several dealers. I imagine getting one of these in a size specific to your L-00 is likely to be equally difficult. Good luck with your search!

Also, along the way, I learned that the Deluxe vs. the standard was the way to go because of the increased protection on your instrument. If a dealer had one in stock, it was always a Deluxe.

Also, several individuals suggested that I go with white or light gray as a color because it reflects rather than absorbs the light.

Good luck!

Hello Ed. Since you're shipping to Hong Kong. I'd contact Mike McLeod (Dr. Jazz on the mandolincafe site) www.acousticguitar.net.
Since he is in Calgary where the cases are made, you are not paying for shipping or duties into the U.S. and then shipping to HK. Mike is a stand=up guy, a great supporter of acoustic music, an archtop, mandolin, stand-up bass, swing & bluegrass afficionado and all around good guy!
Good Luck Doc. please pm me if you need any additional info

I second that about Mike in Calgary. I needed a new Calton Dreadnaught case and he took care of me ASAP. Great service and a brand new Deluxe case with my name on the tag deliverd to my home in 10 days. Mike and Al at Calton are also good friends and if anyone can help you out it's going to be him.

Just remember a Dreadnaught case is going to be easier to get then a custom case for your L OO.

I needed a Calton case for one of my electric guitars and called Calton and talked to Al. He was very helpful and told me if I didn't mind the color of some extra cases that people had canceled there order on he could make me up a case in about a week. I ended up getting a Burgandy exterior with Red interior for my old Les Paul. He doesn't sell direct so I bought it thru Elderly Instuments in Michigan. Raul was excellent to work with there and once again I had it in less then 2 weeks.

I'm sure that there are a number of great shops to deal with like Cottens, Mass Street, Hill Country and countless others. In your case though since you will be shipping it to Hong Kong I think I would try and go directly to Calton and see what they reccomend.

GoodLuck,
Papple

Spoke to Mike the other day due to these posts and was very impressed. Really down to earth Calgarian.

I get out to cow town about once every two years for the gamboree. Everyone in town has a cowboy hat on for the stampede.

Lots of energy. Brother lives there.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I checked with Mike as well, fast response and very honest guy.

The shipping to Hong Kong cost 400USD alone! And together it will be well over 1K!! Eek

hi ed,
I recently ordered a custom Calton for my 34 L00 form Robin at The Guitar Gallery. I spent many hours scouring the web, making calls, looking for used, new, etc... no luck. It seems to be rare thing to have laying around. I called Robin and she was able to jump in on one her orders, so it was a little under 2 months.

Danny at Acoustic Pro Musician is a big dealer, and has a lot of stock and orders. Last we spoke he had the Standard Calton (gray) coming in. I opted for the Deluxe...so I opted for the order with Robin.

hope this helps.
